PITCH@PALACE ON TOUR

NetThings shared the stage with the Duke of York for the Pitch@Palace On Tour event with some of Scotland’s finest entrepreneurs and innovators last month as we pitched for an opportunity to to attend the Pitch@Palace 4.0 event in London at the end of the year.
Pitch@Palace 4.0 has a specific focus on the Internet of Things and Smart Cities, focused on products and services that are designed to create a smarter world, as well as empowering consumers and citizens to engage with objects and the environment around them. In addition to this, it provided a unique opportunity to show off our innovation to potential business investors and CEOs for connections and introductions to help grow our business.
The event was incredibly well organised by Edinburgh Informatics and the Duke’s own offices, not to mention his own personal insight which was well received by everyone in the room who recognised his experience of international business.
An event highlight for us was Sir John Hunter, who gave a memorable and inspiring speech, which touched on Google’s success and Microsoft (he had just come back from visiting Silicone Valley). He spoke of Google’s Larry Page, who was trying to inspire their new starts with a video called moonshot thinking:

Since hearing Sir John Hunter speak, we have changed the way we think and work within our team at NetThings. We have included the links above to a fantastic article by Wired and the Moonshot Thinking video that inspired us, so that we can pass it forward to others.
This way of thinking is helping us rewrite the rule book on BMS by creating a nanoBEMS that is 1/10th the price and complexity of a full BMS, but that can also work on smaller buildings, so suddenly building controls can deliver 20% energy savings through levels of control previously not available in smaller SME properties. You can see this thinking embedded in our technology and hardware, and hear our team passionately discuss it at events like Pitch@Palace.
